Introduction: ICT Administration Crashes Down on Illegal Constructions
ICT administration has given a serious report that the construction in residential and commercial areas will not be approved without the permission of the Capital Development Authority (CDA). This is intended to be used to reduce illegal construction activity, which undermines the urban planning of the city and can even pose a risk to the lives of citizens.
Property Owners, Laborers, and Legal Accountability
Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon further noted that property owners will be affected in terms of legal action, as well as the labor involved with the unauthorized construction. Magistrates have also been advised to act promptly on law offenders to create compliance and maintain law.
Effect of unauthorized building on town planning and security
Illegal construction destabilises a well-planned structure of the city of Islamabad, corrupts the main drainage network of the city, and poses serious security threats. The safety of such buildings is usually not inspected properly, and often not in accordance with zoning procedures, endangering the safety of the residents and the infrastructure of the city.
Supplier of construction materials penalties
The clampdown does not only involve constructors and landowners. The crackdown will also be comprehensive in that businesses selling construction materials without confirming the legal status of the construction project will be penalized, thus closing any available avenues that the construction projects can use to squeeze out money.
Enforcement and Public Advisory Action
The ICT administration urges the citizens to obtain all the related building permits required by the CDA prior to undertaking any building activity. The process of approval and the needed materials are presented via official CDA channels. The actions taken in recent times have led to the destruction and FIRs, which are an indication that the government will be keen to ensure that the city of Islamabad continues to develop according to plans.
The administration of Islamabad declares stringent measures against illegal buildings in the city, and thus, the owners of buildings, the workers, as well as suppliers, promise to be legally accountable in order to safeguard city planning and its safety.
