Sazgar Engineering Works will open bookings for TANK-500 HEV and PHEV CKD models on January 26, 2026, as part of its broader push into New Energy Vehicles in Pakistan.

Bookings for TANK-500 CKD Models Begin on January 26

Sazgar Engineering Works Limited has announced that it will start accepting bookings for its locally assembled CKD models of the TANK-500 Hi4-T 4×4 2.0L Turbo Automatic from Monday, 26 January 2026. The disclosure was made through an official notice submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, confirming that the long-awaited SUV is now moving from planning to the booking phase. For SUV enthusiasts and dealers, this marks the first formal step towards the TANK-500’s arrival on Pakistani roads.

The TANK-500 will be offered in two electrified variants: a Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) version and a conventional Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) version. Both are based on the Hi4-T 4×4 architecture, paired with a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine and automatic transmission. By opening bookings for CKD models, Sazgar is signalling that local assembly lines have been prepared to handle the new product, rather than relying solely on fully built imports.

Pricing and Booking Details to Be Shared Online

While the company has confirmed the booking start date, it has not yet disclosed official prices for the TANK-500 variants. Sazgar has said that detailed pricing, initial booking amounts, and related terms will be announced later the same day through its electronic and social media platforms. This approach reflects a growing trend among auto assemblers who use digital channels to create buzz and reach potential buyers directly.

Potential customers are therefore being advised to watch Sazgar’s official website and verified social media accounts for updates as the booking window opens. Given the high interest in new hybrid and plug-in hybrid SUVs, early announcements on price, delivery timelines, and available colours or trim levels are likely to shape how quickly slots are taken up in the first batch.

Part of Sazgar’s New Energy Vehicle Expansion Plan

The latest announcement fits into the roadmap Sazgar shared with investors back in September 2025, when it outlined plans to introduce multiple New Energy Vehicle models by 31 March 2026. At that time, the company had specifically named the TANK-500 and the CANNON as key PHEV offerings for the Pakistani market. Moving ahead with bookings for the TANK-500 suggests that the NEV rollout is broadly on schedule.

By positioning itself early in the hybrid and plug-in hybrid space, Sazgar is aiming to capture buyers who want the fuel savings and lower emissions of electrified drivetrains without fully committing to pure battery-electric vehicles. For Pakistan, where charging infrastructure is still developing and power supply can be inconsistent, hybrid and PHEV SUVs offer a practical middle path between traditional petrol-only models and full EVs.

What the TANK-500 Launch Means for Pakistan’s SUV Market

The introduction of CKD-assembled TANK-500 models is another sign that Pakistan’s SUV market is shifting toward larger, more feature-rich vehicles with advanced powertrains. In recent years, rising demand for crossovers and off-road capable SUVs has encouraged both global and Chinese manufacturers to partner with local assemblers. Sazgar’s move to assemble the TANK-500 locally strengthens this trend while also supporting the development of domestic skills, jobs, and supplier networks in the New Energy Vehicle segment.

For buyers, the key factors to watch will be final pricing, equipment levels, and delivery timelines once bookings open. If Sazgar can offer competitive pricing relative to imported rivals and maintain reasonable delivery times, the TANK-500 could quickly become a serious contender among high-end SUVs. For policymakers and industry watchers, the model’s progress will be a useful indicator of how quickly Pakistan’s automotive sector is able to adapt to global shifts toward hybrid and electric mobility.

As more details emerge through Sazgar’s PSX disclosures and public announcements, fleet buyers, individual customers, and auto analysts will gain a clearer picture of where the TANK-500 fits in terms of value, technology, and long-term ownership costs. For now, the confirmation of a firm booking date is a key milestone in the company’s broader transition into the New Energy Vehicle era.
