Rawalpindi is set to get a major new recreational space as the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) begins work on a modern family park in Adiala. The project, estimated to cost around Rs450 million, is being pitched as one of the biggest park developments for residents living in the rural belt of the district.
PHA Director General Ahmed Hassan Ranjha said the new park is meant to bring quality leisure and sports facilities closer to communities that often have to travel into the city for basic entertainment options. By building a large, well-equipped park in Adiala, the authority hopes to reduce this gap and give local families a safe, accessible place to spend their evenings and weekends.
Sports, Fitness and Adventure in One Location
According to details shared by the PHA, the park will combine traditional green spaces with a wide range of sports and fitness facilities. Plans include separate jogging and cycling tracks so that walkers, runners and cyclists can all use the park without getting in each other’s way. An open-air gym is also part of the layout, giving young people and adults a chance to exercise in a clean outdoor environment.
For sports lovers, the project features dedicated cricket and football zones, along with tennis courts and a mini-golf area. He emphasised that investing in parks and recreation is not just about beautification; it is also about public health, social cohesion and mental well-being.
