PSCA has activated high‑resolution cameras across Rawalpindi to issue automated e‑challans, improve traffic flow, and support faster crime response.
What Has Launched in Rawalpindi?
After the installation of the Safe City cameras in the main junctions and corridors, the Punjab Safe Cities Authority has activated its e-challan system in Rawalpindi. The relocation is preceded by the introduction of such moves in Lahore and other cities, and is to facilitate a better flow of traffic, enhanced road safety, and improved security of the people. Cameras are also live which allows the automatic detection and ticket of the violators by the digital system which includes red-light jumps, and changing lanes without indications and wrong way driving.
Where the Cameras Are Active
Cameras are in action in COD Chowk, Fauji Foundation, Liaquat Bagh, Raja Bazaar, Chandni Chowk, Commercial Market, Ali Chowhan Chowk, Ayub Park, Jinnah Park, Chaklala Railway Station, Gulzar -e-Quaid, Faizabad Metro Station, Pirwadhai Mandi Stop, Saddar Bank Road, Qasim Market, Bakra Mandi Chowk, Kachehri Chowk, Rawal Road, Committee Chowk, Tench Bh These nodes include busy commercial areas and feeder roads in such a way that the patterns of traffic will be observed on a long distance basis. The system will have a PSCA headquarters opposite Jinnah Park that will handle feeds and process all e-challans issued by the system.
How the E‑Challan Works
The system scans number plates and associates the violations with the registered owner. Once the verification is made, an e-challan is created and sent using the official channels. Drivers will be able to pay in the recommended time to evade late fees. In case a driver feels that he or she has been given a ticket he or she did not deserve, he/she can ask it to be examined with evidence. In the case of fleet owners, a monthly report of the challans is useful in monitoring driver behaviour and reducing instances of repeat violations. Ensure registration and address details are updated to ensure the receipt of the right person of the challans.
