Peshawar is on track to be declared a sister city of New York City after the Mayor’s Office in New York sent a draft agreement to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor House for review. The move marks an important moment for the provincial capital, which is seeking stronger international connections, fresh investment and better opportunities for its young population. The proposal reflects a growing trend where major cities build direct partnerships to share ideas, expertise and resources beyond traditional government-to-government diplomacy.

According to officials, the process to formalize Peshawar and New York as sister cities gained momentum when the New York City Mayor’s Office sent a draft agreement to the Governor House in Peshawar. Governor Faisal Karim Kundi welcomed the step and described the proposed partnership as a positive move for international cooperation.
