Service Interruption Announcement
Satellite communication: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has declared a temporary suspension of call center services in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. For technical reasons, the network will be down from 12:00 A.M. to 8:00 A.M. on September 3, 2025. During this time, the helpline for universal access (051-111-786-100) and the emergency line (1777) for mobile users will also be inaccessible.
Other Helpful Sources of Information
For the convenience of the public, during the recovery period, NADRA has requested that citizens use alternative available channels while the outage is in effect. These can include the authority’s website and its verified social media accounts, where updates and support will be communicated during the service suspension.
Guaranteed Fast Restoration
NADRA has expressed regret over the temporary outage and assured citizens that steps are being taken to restore services as soon as possible. They say the restoration will be complete by 8 AM, and regular services, such as registrations, queries for corrections of CNInA, and others, are to be provided without further delay.
About NADRA
NADRA is the central entity for civil registration and identity management in Pakistan, established in 2000. It issues computerized national identity cards (CNICs) and maintains a secure database of citizens. Through biometric and digital technologies, NADRA has fast-tracked the modernisation of the identification system in Pakistan. By 2012, more than 89.5 million identity cards had been issued, and eligibility may begin as young as age 18.
Conclusion
The recent ransom of the helpline service by NADRA reinforces the importance of high-quality technical infrastructure to ensure continuous public access. While the disruption is momentary, NADRA’s responsive approach in providing alternative support channels underscores its dedication to serving its citizens and efficient identity management practices.
