As a major step in increasing public service accessibility, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has created special counters in different post offices in several Punjab cities. It is intended to simplify and facilitate the process of issuing national identity cards, as it will ease the access to basic services without the inconvenience of long queues.
Improving Service Delivery
At the behest of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the Director General of NADRA for Lahore Region sanctioned setting up these special counters at eleven post offices across Lahore and other districts. It is part of NADRA’s continued mission to streamline its service delivery and enhance customer satisfaction.
Locations of Special Counters
These special counters, established with the cooperation of the Pakistan Post Department’s Punjab Region, have been made operational at the below post offices:
- Lahore Cantt
- GPO Lahore
- Manga Mandi
- Shershah Colony
- Shahdara
- Qila Sheikhupura
- Kasur
- Narowal
- Gujranwala
- Sialkot
- Okara
By offering facilities at these branches, NADRA hopes to ease the pressure on its major offices and help citizens access such basic services like renewal of ID cards and issuance of replacement lost cards in an easy manner.
Benefits for Citizens
With the opening of these counters, citizens are now able to renew their identification documents and sort out issues related to misplaced cards without having to wait in long queues at NADRA offices. This move is a key step towards enhancing public convenience and reforming service standards nationwide.
Expansion of NADRA’s Digital Services
Apart from this initiative, NADRA has introduced a new facility where citizens can deposit money into accounts of more than 50 banks using NADRA e-Sahulat. This comes after an agreement between NADRA Technologies Limited and 1LINK to further expand the services offered to the public.
With over 9,000 e-Sahulat franchises across the country, the service guarantees biometric authentication of depositors, greatly enhancing financial services access and broadening Pakistan’s digital banking horizon.
Conclusion
The advent of special counters in post offices is a landmark move in NADRA’s initiative to improve public service delivery. By increasing accessibility to core services, NADRA is dedicated to enhancing the overall experience of citizens. With the authority bringing innovative solutions forward, it is well on its way to transforming public services in Pakistan.
