PSEB has launched MARKAZ, a 24/7 one-window help desk to support IT firms, BPOs, call centres and freelancers with registration, compliance and exports.

PSEB Launches MARKAZ as a One-Window IT Support Center

Pakistan’s tech sector has received a major boost with the launch of the MARKAZ Industry Facilitation Center by the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB). Designed as a one-window platform, MARKAZ aims to support IT companies, BPOs, call centres and freelancers by offering round-the-clock assistance for a wide range of business and regulatory needs.

The initiative is part of broader efforts to strengthen Pakistan’s digital economy and make it easier for technology businesses to start, operate and grow. By providing a single point of contact for many common issues, MARKAZ is expected to save time, reduce confusion and help companies focus more on building products, services and exports instead of getting stuck in red tape.

24/7 Help Desk for Registration, Compliance and Clearances

One of MARKAZ’s main goals is to simplify complex processes that often slow down IT businesses. The center will guide companies and freelancers through key steps such as business registration, obtaining regulatory clearances and meeting compliance requirements. This includes support for dealing with organisations like the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), Employees’ Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI), Social Security departments and provincial labour authorities.

By providing clear information on documentation, forms and procedures, MARKAZ can help new startups avoid common mistakes and delays. For existing firms, the help desk offers a place to seek advice when they face operational or policy-related challenges, whether they involve contracts, labour regulations, connectivity issues or export rules.

Direct Coordination With Government Departments

According to officials, a key feature of MARKAZ is its ability to coordinate directly with government departments on behalf of IT businesses. Instead of every company having to chase multiple offices on its own, the help desk can escalate issues, track progress and push for timely resolutions through established channels.

This kind of central coordination is expected to reduce bureaucratic hurdles that have historically discouraged small and medium-sized IT firms. When a problem with registration, taxation, licensing or policy interpretation arises, MARKAZ can act as a bridge between the private sector and the government, helping both sides understand each other’s requirements and constraints more clearly.

Support for Exports and IT-Enabled Services

With a 24/7 support model, MARKAZ is also designed to assist companies with export-related procedures and questions. Many IT and IT-enabled services (ITeS) businesses depend on smooth international payments, proper documentation and timely regulatory approvals to keep their global clients satisfied. Any delays can affect project timelines, cash flows and long-term relationships with overseas partners.

By offering guidance on export revenue processes, banking documentation and regulatory compliance, the center aims to reduce friction for firms that are already exporting—and to encourage more local startups to enter international markets. This is especially important for BPOs, call centres and freelance teams that work across time zones and may need support outside traditional office hours.

Creating a More Business-Friendly Tech Ecosystem

The Ministry of IT & Telecom and PSEB describe MARKAZ as an important support framework for Pakistan’s digital economy. By helping businesses overcome barriers related to regulation, documentation and coordination, the initiative aims to create a more business-friendly environment where innovation and growth are easier.

For startups, this could mean faster setup, fewer surprises and clearer guidance on how to stay compliant as they scale. For established firms, it offers a dedicated channel to raise systemic issues and push for policy improvements. Over time, a smoother interface between industry and government can lead to better laws, more targeted incentives and stronger confidence among local and foreign investors.

Why MARKAZ Matters for Freelancers and Small Teams

Freelancers and small IT teams often lack the resources to hire legal or compliance experts. For them, MARKAZ can act as a practical support line, answering basic questions about registration, tax status, contracts and social security requirements. This can help independent professionals move from informal work arrangements to more structured businesses that qualify for official benefits and protections.

By supporting companies of all sizes—from solo freelancers to large IT firms—MARKAZ is being positioned as a major step toward empowering Pakistan’s tech community. If the center delivers on its promise, it could play a key role in improving the country’s digital infrastructure, increasing exports and making Pakistan a more competitive player in the global technology and services market.
