The Islamabad Traffic Police issues a 10-day traffic plan with alternate routes during Pakistan vs South Africa matches to ensure smooth traffic flow across the city.
Comprehensive Traffic Plan Announced
The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has rolled out a 10-day traffic management plan to facilitate smooth commuting during the ongoing cricket series between Pakistan and South Africa. The advisory outlines alternative routes, deployment of officers, and real-time updates to ensure minimal inconvenience for residents and visitors.
Deployment of Traffic Officers
According to ITP officials, around 310 traffic officers have been deployed along major routes to ensure uninterrupted traffic movement. Officers are stationed at key junctions and service roads to assist motorists and maintain steady flow, particularly around the Rawalpindi-Islamabad route and access roads leading to the stadium.
Alternate Routes for Motorists
The advisory provides detailed alternative routes for the public to avoid congestion during match days:
• Motorists traveling from Margalla Road to Khanna should use Faisal Avenue via Blue Area, Club Road, and Lehtrar Road.
• Those heading toward Sectors G-9, G-10, G-11, and Tarnol can take Faisal Avenue via F-10 Road.
• Travelers from Rawalpindi Saddar to Islamabad are advised to use the Srinagar Highway via Peshawar Morr.
• Drivers entering Islamabad through IJP Road should take Sabzi Mandi Road as an alternate route.
Public Advisory and Expected Delays
The ITP has warned that there are chances of traffic jam in the Expressway and Srinagar Highway during office and school rush hour. The commuters are encouraged to schedule their trips and allow more time to get there, and be patient. Lane discipline and traffic control will ensure the reduction of delays by having traffic officers where major crossings happen to direct the traffic.
Public Assistance and Real-Time Updates
Traffic updates are availed to citizens in real-time by the official social media accounts and FM Radio 92.4 of Islamabad Police. They may call Pukar-15 or b1915 Traffic Helpline. ITP focused on the cooperation of people and encouraged the citizens to comply with the recommendation to maintain proper mobility during the 10 days event.
Ensuring Safety and Smooth Mobility
Islamabad Traffic Police restated its road safety and effective management of traffic. The ITP will use the deployment of the officers, the assigning of the alternate routes, and the open communication channels to strike a balance between the convenience of the people and the security of the events. The project shows that the city is ready to manage high traffic cases during major events in sports.
Also, the Islamabad Capital Territory Administration has partnered with the traffic police in order to keep eye on the vehicle traffic using drone cameras during match times. Such real time monitoring will assist the authorities in identifying the bottlenecks promptly and re-direct traffic where necessary. Parking facilities have also been put aside outside the stadiums to avoid road-side parking and enhance the accessibility of emergency vehicles. The government has also advised the citizens to use the public transport at all times so that they could always avoid congestion and promote eco-friendly commuting. All these action plans are meant to create a safe, orderly and effective travel experience of all the residents and visitors to the cricket series.
