Islamabad Traffic Police Registers 112 FIRs in Special Crackdown
The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has intensified its efforts to curb dangerous driving and enhance road safety in the federal capital. In a special one-week enforcement bid, ITP seized 1,119 motorcycles and 412 vehicles, and registered 112 FIRs against the serious traffic offenders.
Strict Enforcement Measures and Violations Addressed
The campaign focused on a broad set of offenses to make the road trips safe and smooth for every resident. A total of 845 motorists were prosecuted for lane violations, 76 for driving without a valid driver’s license, 11 motorcycle riders for triple riding, and 23 young motorists.
Wrong-Way Driving and Helmet Enforcement
ITP teams received 923 complaints about wrong-way driving, which was one of the leading causes of accidents, and issued 1,007 citations for not wearing helmets to bikers. Additionally, 2,766 drivers were penalized for illegal parking during the campaign.
Zero-Tolerance Policy and Continued Campaign
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Captain (retd) Syed Zeeshan Haider has directed officers to maintain full momentum in the crackdown, reiterating a zero-tolerance policy towards traffic violations. No one will be discriminated against during all enforcement efforts directed towards the safety and well-being of Islamabad’s citizens.
The CTO requested that citizens of the country support the traffic police and observe all traffic rules, adding that sensible driving behavior would make roads safer. This is because experts recommend that drivers carry essentials such as a valid license, helmets, and drive the right way, and park in a designated place. Such rules may help ensure that no legal problems arise and that the risks of accidents are minimized.
The Broader Impact: Building a Culture of Compliance
Law enforcement officials are convinced that a culture of compliance can be promoted only through lengthy campaigns and regular sanctions, making the roads of Islamabad safer for all. People are called upon to assist in such activities and contribute to the creation of a society that values road safety and integrity on the road.
