The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has taken a step forward in improving Islamabad’s landscape and boosting its tourism sector by approving consultancy services for three major recreational projects, including a theme park, a Ferris wheel, and a cable car system.
At their 5th meeting on Tuesday, the Development Working Party (DWP) cleared PC-II-level projects for hiring consultants to carry out feasibility studies and PC-II-level projects for preparing detailed designs of all three projects.

– Theme Park: A feasibility study and design (Rs. 206 million) was approved.
– Ferris Wheel: Consultancy and planning services to cost Rs 61.8 million.
– Cable Car Project: Consultancy sanctioned, at an estimated cost of Rs. 197.76 million.
Officials said Islamabad, home to more than two million people, has been facing an increasing need for good recreational and entertainment locations. Though a leading domestic and foreign tourist destination, the city is considered open to these things.
The studies and plans are expected to be finished in six months. The project implementation decision would depend on the consultancy estimates and subsequent approvals.
