The Islamabad district administration has temporarily ordered the closure of some hiking trails in anticipation of the upcoming celebrations related to Markah-e-Haq and Independence Day. The decision aims to implement special security measures to ensure the safety of citizens during the national celebrations scheduled for August 13 and 14 at Jinnah Stadium.
Dates and Trails Affected
According to the official announcement, there are the following trails will stay closed to visitors on both August 12 and 13:
- Trail 02 is a popular trail with a good view and is not particularly demanding.
- Trail 03- This is a wildlife and green trail.
- Trail 04 – This trail is commonly used by individual family members and first-time hikers.
- Trail 05 – It is among the extended trails, offering panoramic views of the city.
- Saidpur Village to Trail – A path that holds cultural attraction for both locals and tourists.
Security Measures and Event Details
The shutdowns will also prevent unauthorized persons from accessing sensitive areas during the celebrations. The Markah-e-Haq and Independence Day celebrations at Jinnah Stadium are expected to attract thousands of people, including government officials, overseas guests, and ordinary citizens.
Security will normally be increased around the various exit and entrance points, and CCTV cameras will be installed along the major roads leading to the event areas. The issues are also synchronized within the units of emergency response to handle any unexpected scenarios.
Public Advisory and Alternative Options
The citizens are requested to schedule their outdoor activities and avoid entering restricted areas when closures occur. The government has proposed alternate recreational destinations to people who want to spend their leisure time outdoors during the said dates which include Lake View Park, F-9 Park, and Daman-e-Koh.
Hikers and tourists are also encouraged to check the Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) official website or contact the tourism helpline for updated information on trail reopening schedules.
Balancing Security and Recreation
Though it differs, this was a necessary step to take to guarantee the safety of the population in one of the greatest national holidays in Pakistan. The government has also assured citizens that the pathways will open immediately after the events conclude.
Islamabad thus has a responsibility to ensure the safety of its people and efficient organization of events to ensure the celebration of Independence Day brings about peace and order. This collaboration between citizens and such security measures will be crucial to ensuring the festivals are successful.
