Islamabad will be one of the most watched cities in Pakistan with authorities in the country giving the thumbs up to install more CCTV cameras- to include the 3,100 CCTVs as part of the Safe City project. The growth will be a major milestone in improving the urban security infrastructure of the capital as currently the city has more than 5,000 surveillance cameras.

Islamabad Scales Up Safe City Surveillance Network

Safe City project, a plan aimed at preventing crime incidences and enhancing speed in responding to emergencies is already spreading its coverage to all the major areas in the city. Embedded into the Command and Control Centre, the new cameras will give law enforcers and city administrators means to fully monitor citywide and in real-time.

Thousands of New CCTV Cameras for Urban Security

All these areas in Islamabad will have thousands of extra sets of eyes watching over them on busy roads, intersections, entry and exit points. The officials have also identified areas of high traffic and sensitive areas to impact the project to the maximum in terms of safety and traffic handling of people.

Advanced Technology: Facial Recognition and Real-Time Monitoring

Safe City cameras are now of the latest generation and feature advanced facial recognition benefits, as well as high-definition videos, that allow the rapid identification of persons of interest and a fast response to the incident. Artificial intelligence and automated monitoring processes enable the system to be responsive as well as proactive because it ensures that when there is perceived suspicious activity, the system can be identified and marked in a real-time fashion.

Strategic Placement at Roads, Intersections, and Entry Points

The new cameras are positioned in strategic areas in order to provide maximum coverage of the major arteries, critical intersections, and the city borders. This network not only facilitates the prevention of crime, but it also facilitates the investigation of crime since law bodies would be able to see clear records and may track people all around in the city.

Impact on Crime Prevention and Public Safety

The authorities anticipate that the augmented surveillance network will go a long way to bolster Islamabad in crime prevention, traffic management as well as incident response through coordination. Having over 5,000 cameras on the Internet, the Safe City project will ensure that the capital is safer and sounder both to its residents and visitors, as it is known to be a modern and a secure metropolis.
