The
Shaheen Chowk underpass in Islamabad is about to start construction. The idea is to help with the ongoing issue of traffic jams near several of the city’s most important educational institutions.
Confirming the news, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said the project is ready for construction and will begin soon. Building the underpass is considered helpful for university students, faculty, and residents who often experience delays at the area’s bottleneck.
The minister pointed out that the project is essential because it will ease the travel of thousands of people each day. Such a project is urgent for one of Islamabad’s most crowded places, especially during the hours when students travel.
Officials in CDA explained that the Shaheen Chowk project supports the capital’s plan to boost connectivity and speed up travel across the city. Upon completion, roads under the Islamabad underpass will link sectors to main routes, reducing pressure on other routes.
The new project will be undertaken after the Jinnah Square Murree Road underpass is successfully finished and officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. After only 35 days, the new underpass allows a continuous route from Murree Road to Srinagar Highway.
Because of the rising number of people and cars on the roads, underpasses are essential to manage Islamabad’s urban traffic. Shaheen Chowk shows that the government is committed to building greener cities and upgrading infrastructure for everyone.
Consumers and those who work or live nearby have expressed hope that the underpass will make traveling around the capital safer and easier in the long term.
