Why IESCO is suspending power supply
The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has announced a temporary suspension of power supply on several feeders for Monday, 26 January 2026. According to the company, the shutdowns are necessary to carry out system maintenance and development work aimed at improving the reliability and safety of the distribution network.
Such planned outages are routinely scheduled so that technical teams can upgrade equipment, replace damaged components, clear line faults and carry out essential safety checks. While these power cuts can cause inconvenience for homes and businesses, they are also important for reducing the risk of unplanned breakdowns and long-duration faults in the future.
Key areas and feeders to be affected in Islamabad and Rawalpindi
According to the IESCO spokesperson, power will remain suspended from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm on various feeders falling under the Islamabad Circle. These include TDCP, MCM, Gharial, Upper Topa, Patriata, PAF and Kuldana feeders. Several parts of the Rawalpindi City Circle will also be affected, including Raja Sultan, New Mulpur, Muzammil Town, Al-Noor Colony, Tariq Shaheed, Nawaz Colony, B.N. Hospital, Zafar-ul-Haq, Dhoke Khabba, Major Masood, Sarafa Bazar, Gawalmandi, Westridge, Khayaban-e-Sir Syed, Bagh Sardaran, Madina Colony, People Colony, Chearing Cross, Radio Pak-I, Bajniyal, Bajniyal-II, Noon and Mohan Pura feeders.
In the Rawalpindi Cantt Circle, outages are planned on feeders such as Macca Chowk, Dheri Hassanabad, State Bank, Dhok Noor, Kohala, Punjar, Major Muhammad Hanif, Sepoy Ibrar Hussain, Chowk Pindori, New Choa Khalsa, Sihala College, Mandra, LTC (Gujar Khan), Hamad Jhangi, Mandra-II, Pind Jhatla, Bhangali, Syed Kasran, Chak Bali Khan-2, CBR-II, Old Rawat, New Rawat, AOWHS, Suparco, CWO and IST. For some of these feeders, power suspension is expected between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm, while specific feeders such as Kahuta City-1, Lehtrar-1 and Narh will also face shutdowns within this window.
Outage plan for Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum and GSO Circle
In the Attock Circle, a number of feeders will face temporary power cuts during the maintenance operations. These include Ghazi Kohli, Margalla, Sangjani, A-Block, Arcade, Lala Zar, Brahma, Kohsar Valley, Babrakki, Hameed, Haji Shah, Ghourghushti, Peoples Colony (Triple Circuit), Shakaradar (Triple Circuit), Mari (Triple Circuit), Dilawar Abad T/C, Sirka T/C, Shadi Khan T/C, Golra, Soni, Pindi Gheb City, Noorpur, Jhang, Bhandar, Dhurnal, Gaggan, Aman Pur and Fawara Chowk feeders.
Similarly, in the Chakwal Circle, shutdowns will affect areas connected to Kot Chaudhrian, Mengan, Sethi, Islamia Chowk, Dera Muslim, Dhudial City, Mulhal Mughlan, Sarkal, Basharat, Duffer, Dalwal, Lilla Town, K.S. Mines, Abdullah Pur, Kot Gullah, Kot Shera, Pichnand, Malikwal, Akwal, Bilalabad, Dhermond and Khuiyan feeders. In the Jhelum Circle, the maintenance schedule includes New Cantt Jhelum, CMH Jhelum, Shakreela, Shamasabad, Citi Housing, Chamala, Gaddari, Phadial, Nathwala, F-12 (Sanghoi), Safdar Shaheed, CO Muhammad Akram, Ward No-8, Pind Mattay Khan, Ghouri Dhamaik, Chappar Sharif, Guliana, Dora Badhal and Kanggar Thathi feeders.
For the GSO Circle, IESCO has announced suspension from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on Charhoi, City-2, Sehnsa, Fateh Pur, City-1, NAR and Khui Ratta feeders. Another block of shutdowns from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm will impact City, Datot, Jandrot, Mohra and Karala feeders, along with surrounding areas.
How residents and businesses can prepare for the shutdown
Consumers in the affected areas are advised to plan their day in line with the announced timings to minimise disruption. Households should charge essential devices such as mobile phones, power banks and emergency lights ahead of the scheduled outage. It is also wise to store some drinking water if electric motors are used for pumping.
Businesses, especially those that rely heavily on powered equipment, should consider adjusting work hours or using backup power solutions where available. Shops, offices, clinics and small industrial units may need to reschedule high-load activities outside the shutdown window to avoid loss of productivity.
IESCO has reminded customers that the schedule is subject to change in case of technical or weather-related constraints but said that every effort will be made to complete the maintenance work within the announced time.
