Abdul Aleem Khan, the Federal Minister for Communications, has emphasised that work on crucial roads in Sindh should commence, particularly on the M-6 and M-10 motorways, as their construction is significantly behind schedule.
In a statement from Karachi, after meeting with Chief Minister Shah, he announced that both projects will begin construction simultaneously.
The minister added that having both projects linked to Karachi Port is crucial for their success. The motorways are not fully useful unless the port can be reached, he explained.
The five sections of the M-6 Motorway, totalling approximately Rs. 400 billion, are currently under construction. The funding decision for two has been made, and the talks are not over for the others. Aleem Khan assured help for difficulties faced by drivers on the Lyari Expressway and in the Sohrab Goth areas.
He believed motorways play a key role in the economy and encouraged both domestic and international investors to help upgrade Pakistan’s infrastructure.
