Comprehensive Upgrade for Islamabad’s Pedestrian Bridges
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has announced a citywide initiative to overhaul all pedestrian bridges in Islamabad. The order included a thorough inspection of structural integrity, immediate repair, and the installation of decorative and safety lighting at all pedestrian overpasses. Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa issued it.
Parking Plaza and Traffic Management: Easing Urban Congestion
One of the key takeaways of the CDA’s latest meeting is the pressure to fast-track the launch of the long-awaited Parking Plaza in the Blue Area. The project is likely to enhance access to Islamabad’s busiest commercial area and solve the parking and long-term congestion problems.
Infrastructure improvements are also under way, such as road widening, repairing the sidewalks, green belt development, including beautification on the right of ways of major road stretches like Expressway, Margalla Road, Club Road, Park Road, Faisal Avenue, and so on.
Urban Beautification and Public Space Revitalization
The beautification campaign by CDA entails the plantation of model highways, seasonal flower bedding, the use of wooden signboards and planters personalized to their specifications. Urban forestry and roundabout restoration are engineering projects inspired to combat the problem of pollution and make the city more friendly to both residents and travelers.
Park Upgrades and Promotion of Eco-Tourism
The priority areas that the authority is focusing on include upgraded structures in all sectors, such as F-9 Park, Lake View Park, and neighborhood parks. New lighting is planned, better facilities are to be set up for family and fitness enthusiasts, improved walking tracks, new-age swings, and massive plantations.
To attract family entertainment and eco-tourism, Chairman Randhawa has further directed the officials to plant environmentally friendly trees in addition to speeding up the feasibility studies of new attractions, including cable cars, theme parks, and fun fairs.
