Find all 15 M-Tag registration centers in Islamabad, including mobile units, so you can get your vehicle tagged before the deadline and avoid fines or entry restrictions.
Why Islamabad Drivers Need to Act Before the Deadline
With less than 15 days left before Islamabad’s extended M-Tag installation deadline expires, motorists are being urged to get their vehicles tagged now. From 15 January, automated tag readers at key toll plazas are expected to strictly enforce the requirement. Vehicles without a valid M-Tag may face fines, long delays or even be turned back at entry points.
For regular commuters using the Islamabad–Lahore Motorway and connected routes, postponing registration until the last moment could mean getting stuck in long queues. Authorities and the operator, One Network, are advising drivers to complete the process early while centres are still relatively manageable.
M-Tag Registration Centers in Islamabad
To ease the rush, 15 registration points have been set up across Islamabad, including several high-traffic locations and public spaces. These centres are meant to cover different parts of the city so that residents do not have to travel far just to register their vehicles.
According to One Network, M-Tag registration is currently available at the following locations in Islamabad:
Mobile Units Deployed to Handle Last-Minute Demand
In addition to the fixed registration points, the operator has deployed four mobile registration units. These mobile counters move between busy areas, events and popular public spots to handle walk-in registrations and last-minute demand. Their locations may change from day to day based on traffic patterns and expected crowd volumes.
Motorists who cannot easily reach a fixed centre during working hours may find it more convenient to use one of these mobile units if they happen to be operating nearby. However, officials still advise drivers not to wait for mobile units alone and to register at any convenient fixed centre as soon as possible.
Documents Required for M-Tag Issuance
The documentation required for M-Tag registration has been kept simple to speed up processing.
- Vehicle Registration Card/Book
- CNIC of the vehicle owner
Arriving at the centre without complete documents can result in wasted time and a second trip, especially as the deadline approaches. Officials repeatedly stress that drivers who bring both the vehicle’s registration card and the owner’s CNIC are usually processed much faster.
Tips to Avoid Queues and Last-Minute Stress
With the deadline approaching, the last few days before enforcement are likely to see the heaviest crowds. To minimise inconvenience, motorists are advised to plan their visit during off-peak hours, such as early mornings or weekdays, when possible.
Before heading out, drivers can call the official helpline at 1313 to confirm centre timings, current locations of mobile units and any temporary changes. Keeping a small balance ready for the initial top-up, if required at the centre, can further reduce delays. By taking a little time now to get registered, Islamabad drivers can enjoy faster, hassle-free travel through M-Tag lanes once automated checks are fully in place.
